Water Treatment Plant Supervisor (WTPS)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of: Principles and practices of water treatment and water quality analysis. Chemical tests and Jar testing applicable to water treatment. Water treatment plant equipment (DAF, Dosing pumps, Softeners, Condensers filters, Pump systems, ClO₂ Generation equipment). Filter profile analysis, sedimentation basin loading, chemical feed equipment. Control systems for plant processes. Record keeping using Microsoft Word and Excel. General principles of supervision and training. Appropriate safety precautions and procedures. Proper methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in water plant repair, maintenance, and operation. Tag system (will be an advantage) Ability to: Instruction and train operation personnel according to the plant Operations and Maintenance Manual Ability to review work of subordinates during projects and upon completion Maintain water plant equipment. Create SOP or SWI (advantageous) Understand and apply Systems Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system principles and applications. Establish and maintain safe working practices and habits. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: In position of a Grade 12 certificate, any additional education, combination of training and experience which demonstrates an ability to perform the duties of this position. The typical qualifying entrance background are courses in water treatment and water works practice five to eight years of increasingly responsible experience in water treatment plant operation including 5 years of supervisory experience. Must be computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook).
